FAQS
Frequently asked questions
What is the product range?
All cylindrical pins including the fluted pin as well as spacers, axles and self-tapping sockets, our added value consists in co-development with our customers in order to obtain the best mix: quality/price/environment/deadline.
What are your deadlines for a standard product?
Our lead time is 4/6 weeks for a standard product. However, we are able to make a partial delivery as soon as possible if you expressly request it.
What kind of heat treatment can you provide us with?
The overwhelming majority of our treatments are carried out by our partner specializing in the field. Its international dimension, its CQI9 certification and the positioning of its factory 40 km from ours make it a partner of choice.
What are your deadlines on a special piece?
From the first phase of studying a project, we can create a Gantt schedule in order to know the different phases in order to act as quickly as possible and give you visibility of progress. Once the prototypes have been validated, you are delivered under the conditions agreed during the contract. We have a delivery rate of 97%.
What standards are you certified to?
With more than 65% of our turnover generated for the automotive industry, LGC is certified to the most demanding standards: ITAF 16 949, ISO 14001 and ISO 45 001. As early as 2007 we were certified Ford Q1.
What types of material can you provide us with?
The most optimal material will be selected to meet the demands of the application while having as main objective the quality/price/carbon footprint mix.
Do your spacers function as sockets or inserts?
Yes, our spacers work as sockets or inserts for centering, anti-creep/compression, and remote control applications.
What is the product range?
Our product range consists of pins (grooved, smooth, ground), axles, centering spacers, compression spacers, self-tapping bushings. We also manufacture any fastening and assembly element similar to these ranges, for a special project.
What is the difference between a fluted pin and a grooved or notched pin?
A fluted pin is a cylindrical shaft with 3 splines obtained by cold deformation of the material. The splines are elastic and ensure that the pin is held in its housing. A grooved or notched pin will be made by removing material. However, the line between these terms is very fine and they are often confused.
Do your pins work like axles?
Our pins can function as axes by ensuring solidarity, articulation and indexing functions.
What is the difference between a 3-hole Intervis® and a standard Intervis®?
Intervis® are self-tapping threaded inserts. This means that installing them does not require prior tapping. We manufacture two types of Intervis®, the slotted Intervis® and the 3-hole Intervis®. These Intervis® have the same functions and respond to the same mechanical constraints. However, the 3-hole Intervis®, which is shorter than the slotted Intervis®, is recommended for applications with a problem of space in terms of height. In this case, the slot is replaced by 3 holes that will ensure self-tapping and trap the chips resulting from the installation of the Intervis®.
What are your packaging types?
We mainly offer bell cardboard boxes allowing our components to be packaged without exceeding a weight of 12 kg. Our products can be put into VCI bags and other types of packaging such as vacuum bagging. Any request can be studied.
What is your CSR/QHSE approach
In 2008, LGC Industries committed itself to a CSR approach with the ambition to promote values other than economic performance alone. This is linked to social and environmental performance, the core of the company, which has been certified IATF 19949-ISO 14001 for many years and recently ISO 45001 as well as EcoVadis.
What is your Ecovadis score?
Our Ecovadis score is evolving by +2 points this year to reach 66/100. LGC Industries is Ecovadis silver and is in tier 1 of French factories on this point.
Where do you produce?
Our production is currently centralized at the Avrilles/Angers site. To meet the “global foorprint” demand of our customers, we are expanding in the USA where we already have a logistics base.
What is the company's headcount (with ratio)?
The company is made up of 70 professionals. 70% of technicians and engineers and 30% of support, sales and management functions.
What is the company's turnover?
Our turnover is around €10,000,000 and is constantly growing and under control.
What are your tooling deadlines?
Our internal tool shop allows us to be more responsive. It is not uncommon to offer a 48-hour delay on simple tools. For the most complex tools, this delay can be up to 8 weeks.
What heat treatment associated with which material?
The most optimal heat treatment will be combined with the material required to meet in all respects the expectations of the projects entrusted to us by our customers: OEM and Tier-1 for 65% of our turnover
What is your quality commitment (PPM)?
Our PPM level is one of our priorities. Our objective is zero, from the design phase we take into account the PPM requirement of our customers in order to determine the appropriate process. In 2022, we had an average PPM of 3 throughout the factory.
Are you equipped with a sorting machine?
We have several sorting and pollution control machines. We are able to sort to the nearest micron. Most of the time, we develop sorting technology directly on the machines to optimize the production chain.
Can you manufacture in large quantities?
Our equipment is sized for mass production from 40 K to more than 1M parts per reference.
Can you bag the products?
We offer a wide range of bagging or packaging, ranging from units in cells to bulk, in VCI bags.
Are you concerned about the carbon footprint of your factory?
As early as 2019, we calculated our carbon footprint to logically respond to our CSR charter created in 2008. We have set up a multidisciplinary group to reduce our footprint, both during the production process and during the design phase with our customers. These 2 areas of work allow us to act favorably for a trend towards decarbonization.
Where can you deliver?
We ship our components to over 40 countries in Europe, America and Asia. More generally, we have the ability to deliver to any location on the planet.
Can you carry out a carbon footprint?
For more than 5 years, our teams have been constantly trained to calculate a carbon footprint as accurately as possible. Most of the time, we carry out carbon balances component by component but we can also take an overall assessment.
Are you easily available for an audit?
We make ourselves available for audits without problems, do not hesitate to use the contact form to make an appointment soon.
Where does your material come from?
100% of our material is supplied less than 900 km from our production site, including more than 80% less than 500 km from our French factory.
How do you take mechanical constraints into account in the design of your products?
Within our design office and thanks to RDM software (material resistance) as well as our 3D printers, we are able to co-design with our customer and quickly prototype your fastening elements. It is during this process that we calculate all the mechanical stresses exerted on the part. This is also where we will recommend the best solution based on these constraints. We offer our customers more than 30 years of development in demanding sectors such as the automotive industry: engine, gearbox, medical and mechatronics.
Do you have stock on threaded inserts?
For our range of self-tapping threaded inserts from our Intervis® brand, we have set up a stock of components that is well suited to the distribution method for these parts.
How often and by whom are you audited?
Our ISO TS 16949 certification requires an annual audit. To go further, over the past 5 years, we have been implementing cross-audits within our industrial group to improve our processes from year to year. At the request of our customers, we carry out self-audits as well as audits carried out by them. In this context, the format is most often under the VDA 6.3 repository.
Do you have stock on your products?
We do not work on stock systems, because our components are specially manufactured to meet the applications of our customers by aiming at the quality/price mix.
